Already have subtitles or a script?
Import a file
.srt · .vtt · .itt · .ass · .fcpxml · .txt
- Have a subtitle already? Drop it in and adjust/convert it. FCPXML: titles on different lanes import as separate lanes/languages. .fcpxmld bundles must be drag & dropped — browser file pickers can't select them.
- Have an untimed script or transcript? Paste Text In — each line becomes a subtitle — then AI Full Realign times them to the audio.
No subtitles yet? Load your audio/video in the player below, click Start from Scratch, then hit TRANSCRIBE — speech becomes subtitles via a local AI model.
Runs entirely on your device
Transcription and alignment use local AI models that run inside your browser — your audio and video never leave your machine, and nothing is uploaded to a server for processing. The AI runs on WebGPU, so it's hardware-demanding: a Mac with Apple Silicon (M-series) chip on Google Chrome is strongly recommended.

About
Subtitle Wrangler is a browser-based subtitle editor optimized for
but not limited to Final Cut Pro workflows.
Import subtitles from SRT, ASS, VTT, ITT, FCPXML (including .fcpxmld bundles), or plain text.
Edit inline with split, join, auto-split, and batch find/replace.
Process gaps between subtitles, filter by duration or text, and export to
SRT, VTT, ASS, TXT, CSV, FCPXML or even MOTN (Apple Motion).
With Local AI Assist (runs in your browser), transcribe subtitles from scratch straight from your media's
speech, or realign existing subtitles to the audio — powered by a small local
model, with no uploads.
Everything is locally processed, and projects are auto-saved locally in browser cache for 14 days.
For best experience: Please use Google Chrome. This webapp is only tested in Chrome & Safari on Mac.

Export
DRAG AND DROP a FCP timeline's .fcpxml / .fcpxmld with at least 1 title in your desired style. Exported titles will be styled accordingly.
Drop .fcpxml or .fcpxmld here
Each line of text will be treated as a separate Title item.
Starting from scratch? Paste any placeholder here, load your media, then Transcribe Audio in AI Assist replaces it with subtitles from the speech. Already have text? After importing you can batch align it to the audio.
Add Lane
- Additional lanes are primarily for multilingual subtitles.
- Export the current lane as .srt, translate it, then drop it back here.
- For .txt, each non-empty line maps to the matching entry in the source lane.
